Future leaders are brought to the United States through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme (Global UGRAD) to experience American higher education, acquire vital professional skills, and discover new cultures and values.
World Learning is in charge of overseeing the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme, which is funded by the US government and supported by the US Department of State.

Over 2,500 Global UGRAD students have had this opportunity since 2008 thanks to World Learning. With the skills necessary to lead in their communities and vocations, participants depart the United States. Alumni of Global UGRAD go on to work in business and government in their home nations and regions, win Fulbright awards, and land renowned international internships.

Programme Objectives

  • To encourage understanding between citizens of the US and other nations.
  • Give students from Global UGRAD countries a rewarding exchange experience that will advance their leadership, academic, and cross-cultural competencies.
  • Boost students’ professional and academic knowledge so they can achieve their long-term learning and career objectives.
  • Foster a thorough and sophisticated grasp of the United States in your students.
  • Create opportunities for students to build social networks with their host universities in the United States and the surrounding area.
  • Give kids the tools they need to participate positively in local and global civic life.

Eligibility

  • All academic disciplines are welcome to participate in Global UGRAD, which does not discriminate on the grounds of race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, or handicap. The programme has a very competitive application process that is merit-based. The selection of finalists will be based on their capacity for leadership, academic achievement, and suitability for study in the United States.

The following people can apply for the Global UGRAD Programme:

  • Able to start studies in the United States in August 2023 or January 2024 (selected applicants may not choose their semester of participation)
  • Eligible to receive and maintain the U.S. student exchange visa (J-1) required for the programme
  • Cleared by a physician to participate in the programme
  • Over the age of eighteen
  • A citizen of a country that is currently participating in Global UGRAD* and presently residing in that country
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in good standing at any accredited university, public or private
  • Have at least one year remaining at their home university at the conclusion of the Global UGRAD programme.
