The Treasury Summer Internship Programme is a junior professional training course intended to equip participants with the knowledge and abilities needed for a successful and enjoyable career in the financial sector. The Programme aims to recruit outstanding college students who have shown a commitment to a career in finance to aid the World Bank’s development mission. After the intern completes their degree programme, the internship builds the groundwork for them to join one Treasury team as a Junior Analyst, a two-year role. It is typical for interns to be in their second to last year of a four-year college degree programme.

The Internship

From May 28 through August 5, 2024, full-time summer interns at the Treasury will work in Washington, DC for ten weeks. In the first week, interns get a unique onboarding programme before starting three three-week rotations across Treasury teams. Interns have weekly meetings with the programme director during the summer, and they attend a speaker series on career perspectives to hear from different Treasury officers, managers, and directors. The approximately 300-person Treasury is accessible to interns, and they can schedule appointments with the Vice President & Treasurer. Every rotation ends with a presentation to the assigned team for the intern, and the internship is concluded with a capstone project presentation to the management team.
