More than ever, it is important—and challenging—for art and culture to explore beyond established categories and establish and maintain links across many contexts. A new and more nuanced approach to how they support the work of the actors is necessary in an era of mounting climate crises, community breakdowns, geopolitical conflicts, and expanding inequality. For this reason, they developed Globus Call. Raising the potential of the transforming role of art and culture in their society is the goal, which is surprisingly modest.

What is in Globus

The foundation hopes to advance a more comprehensive and inclusive view of Nordic labour through Globus. Here, the Nordic is defined as a concept or setting that can be explored through art and cultural exchanges in and around the world rather than as a collaboration between country governments.
The projects must not only be able to be developed in the Nordic countries but also have a clear relevance to the Nordic region in terms of collaborative partners, themes, or activities. Therefore, projects that only operate in the Nordic nations are not eligible for programme support. There are no prerequisites for Nordic collaboration, in contrast to the fund’s two programmes, Project Support and Startup.
Be advised that in general, Globus cannot provide funding for initiatives that meet the evaluation standards for the foundation’s other programmes. This is true, for instance, of programmes that are primarily concerned with collaboration or operations inside the Nordic region.

Financial Details

  • DKK 700 000 is the maximum sum that can be awarded. The amount must be matched, to the extent practicable, with pertinent co-financing or other resources. The usage of the funding for the project must have a distinct goal. Please be aware that initiatives funded under the Call last year received an average of about 350 000 DKK in support.
  • Project Period: The applicant will receive support for a maximum of two calendar years after the year in which support is granted. The term that the Nordic Culture Foundation plans to support initiatives is known as the support period. The project can take longer than expected to complete.

Guidelines for Support

  • The following guidelines, which represent the program’s general goals, will be used to evaluate projects:
  • looking into international practise
    • As the goal and strategy of your project, it is to: engage in cross-national and cross-disciplinary collaborations on a large and spatial scale.
    • Orient to or draw on particular local practises and contexts, acknowledging their complexities with their wider surroundings on a local, regional, global, or planetary scale. address issues or techniques that require long-term development.
    • Curiosity about new things
  • What your project does is:
    • exhibits a workable concept and overall project vision;
    • Aspires to see from different angles and perspectives.
    • Operates in their artistic development through exploratory/research-based approaches when they must acquire new knowledge, form partnerships, and hone their work in dynamic environments.
  • Commitment between parties
    • The strategy and tactics used in your project to:
    • build solid partnerships and networks based on partners’ shared dedication and engagement; develop or facilitate transparent, long-lasting structures and project organisation that support and depend on the unique qualifications of the parties involved.
    • Priority will be given to projects that can show a commitment to having an impact that lasts beyond the support period.

Eligibility

  • With trust and a willingness to take chances, experiments are welcomed.
  • With Globus Call, they promote artistic and cultural collaborations that, in their practise, seek to transcend established borders in terms of culture, society, history, geography, or the workplace. The programme promotes the development of transversal networks and collaborations that seek for fresh viewpoints and foster communication across settings.
  • Projects that use experimental techniques and methodologies and aim to investigate relationships between the local and the global are welcome in the programme. The goal is to support artists with trust and a readiness to take chances by meeting them where they are in terms of context and position.
  • The projects may involve various professional domains and traditions, but they must be grounded in creative and/or cultural surroundings.
