The Harvard LEAD Fellowship for Advancing Women in Global Health 2023–2024 is now accepting applications. The Harvard Global Health Institute and the Global Health and Population Department at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health are collaborating to offer a transformational fellowship that is especially geared to foster leadership abilities in individual A transformational fellowship is offered by the Harvard Global Health Institute and the Global Health and Population Department at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with the express purpose of developing leadership skills in individuals from low- and middle-income countries who will, in turn, mentor future female leaders in global health.
Harvard LEAD Fellows will have access to top-notch instructors, receive senior mentorship, and have the chance to design a curriculum that is in line with their particular goals for personal development and leadership. LEAD fellows participate in a customized leadership training program, speaking and networking opportunities, and autonomous project work based on their unique interests and leadership ambitions. The fellowship presents a special chance to establish connections with peers from other Harvard University schools and departments on a global scale. The fellowship experience gives leaders in global health opportunity to pause, reassess, and venture into unexplored waters.

Encounter with Fellowship
A Harvard LEAD fellowship is a life-changing opportunity created to support and advance upcoming global health leaders. The fellowship is a highly individualized program that is made to match the specific objectives and aspirations of each of our fellows. Fellows will get access to world-class instructors, workshops, and executive education programs for a whole year, which will inspire and challenge them in fresh, innovative ways.
The following are the main tenets of the fellowship:
- training in executive leadership with a personal coach
- 1:1 mentoring from Harvard faculty members who share your interests
- Harvard speaking engagements and international gatherings
- enrollment in many departments’ courses at Harvard
- Exclusive skill-building seminars offered by renowned authorities
Funding
- Fellows will be paid a living stipend for the four weeks they will spend living on campus during the in-residence month.
- The scholarship also covers all course expenses, travel to and from Cambridge, Massachusetts, housing costs, and visa fees.
Eligibility
- Candidates must have at least 15 years of professional experience. And be employed full-time in the field of global health. Work relating to global health that was done while a student. Is not regarded as professional experience.
- Candidates must have a track record of leadership.
- Candidates must have the complete backing of their employer. As well as an internal mentor who serves as a champion in their company.
- During their in-residence experience in April 2024, applicants must take a leave of absence (or an equivalent) from their home institution for one month.
- Candidates must be eligible to live in Cambridge, Massachusetts and be able to get a J-1 visa for travel to the United States in April 2024. NOTICE: As part of the fellowship, lodging, travel expenses, and living expenses will all be paid for the participant’s four weeks in residence.
- The fellows should not have taken part in a full-time fellowship that lasted four months or more in the two years before arriving at Harvard.
Application for 2023–2024 Harvard LEAD Fellowship Women in Global Health
The deadline for submitting all application documents is Friday, March 10, 5 PM EST. In May 2023, candidates will be notified of their status. As of September 1, 2023, the fellowship will end on August 31, 2024.
