1. Cultural Protection Fund small grants open call

Our Cultural Heritage Fund supports efforts to keep cultural heritage safe. If your organisation has a project to safeguard cultural heritage from risks relating to conflict, instability and/or climate change you can apply for up to £100,000.

Grant: up to £100,000.

Open to: organisations can apply from anywhere in the world, but must be working in one of the fund’s target countries or territories: Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen; East Africa – Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda; South Asia – Afghanistan. If you are not based in one of the above countries or territories, you can apply but you must have a local partner where the project is taking place. Individuals and sole traders are not eligible to apply.

2. WOMEX 2024 Proposals 

Musicians, filmmakers and music professionals can submit proposals to take part in the 30th edition of the worldwide music conference, WOMEX, set to take place in Manchester, 23–27 October. Recognised as one of the most important gatherings in the global music scene, WOMEX is the most diverse music meeting worldwide. Its musical spectrum spans from the most traditional to the cutting-edge global local underground, embracing folk, roots, jazz, local and diaspora cultures and urban and electronic sounds from across the globe. Proposals can be submitted in four categories: showcase (for artists); club summit (for DJs); film (for filmmakers); conference (for music professionals).

Deadline: Friday 1 March 2024.

3. Beyond Literature Borders grants 

We’re working with Speaking Volumes to give small, UK-based arts organisations that are diverse-led and/or working with underrepresented voices the opportunity to develop and deliver a discrete project in collaboration with an international partner with a £7,000 grant. This grant is for literature organisations who are completely new to international work, and those who are early in their partnerships and overseas working. 

There will be two Zoom information sessions offering a chance to ask questions and gain further guidance and ideas:
Monday 4 March, 16:00-17:00 (GMT) 
Wednesday 6 March, 10:00-11:00 (GMT)

4. Senior Relationship Manager Creative Networks

This role will focus on connecting with and cultivating arts/creative industry sector relationships with influential individuals, networks and organisations who fall outside the established art forms to ensure that they play a full part in the Arts portfolio of Global Programmes. This role will also focus on building strong links with change makers and collectives who are reshaping the UK’s cultural landscape and dismantling barriers to representation and participation in the culture sector. The postholder will have broad knowledge of the UK’s culture sector, and will manage relationships with key strategic UK partners and external delivery teams.

This is a two year fixed term contract based in any of our UK offices – London, Manchester, Belfast, Edinburgh or Cardiff.

5. Senior Manager Creative Economy (part-time)

This role provides specialist expertise and management skills to ensure high quality implementation of strategic projects within the Creative Economy programme of work. The postholder will ensure the content contributes to achieving targets, meets global and local requirements as appropriate, and creates international opportunities for the UK while supporting the British Council’s cultural relations objectives. This role will develop, implement and monitor work within the partnerships and business development strategy for elements of the global creative economy programme. 

This is a permanent role, for 2 full days per week, based in our London office.

6. Travel Grants Coordinator, Film (part-time)

This part-time role in the British Council’s Film team supports a programme that has external funding from the British Film Institute. You will support the programme manager in the implementation of the film travel grants in compliance with British Council policies and procedures including financial administration, reporting and data collection, operational project delivery and supporting relations with funding and delivery partners.

This is a one year fixed term contract, for 2.5 days per week. The role can be based in any of our UK offices – London, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast or Edinburgh.

7. Festival Travel Grants 2024

These grants will enable representatives from UK festivals to visit a festival (or festivals) in mainland China. This is designed to help participants gain a better understanding of the cultural landscape in mainland China and to make connections which will benefit their own festival in the UK.

Grants: up to £3,000.

Deadline: round one deadline Thursday 29 February 2024; round two deadline Wednesday 8 May 2024.

8. International Collaboration Grants 2024

A pot of £1 million is now available, supporting new cultural collaborations between UK artists, arts professionals and organisations and their peers around the world. Our International Collaboration Grants encourage new bilateral and multilateral partnerships – across arts – providing funding to enable organisations to make and develop creative artwork with their international peers, and help individual artists find innovative ways of collaborating.

Grant: between £25,000 and £75,000.

Deadline: Tuesday 30 April 2024, 23.59 (GMT).
