Setting and Reporting in Organizations

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the premier global environmental organization that establishes the environmental agenda, encourages the UN system to implement the environmental component of sustainable development in a cogent manner, and acts as a credible global environmental advocate. Its job is to oversee the process of developing a consensus on environmental policies by monitoring the state of the world environment and alerting governments and the international community to new concerns that require action. The Ecosystems Division of UNEP collaborates with both domestic and foreign partners to enhance the environmental management capabilities of developing and transitioning economies, as well as to provide technical support and capacity building for the implementation of environmental policies. To assist with the execution of the One Health Team’s initiatives, UNEP/Ecosystems Division/Transformation and Mainstreaming for Nature (TMN) Unit needs the services of one (1) intern. They will need assistance with meeting logistics and technical document preparation before the meeting, as well as ongoing support during the meeting. Apart from aiding with meeting coordination, the intern would also be expected to carry out research, draft communication materials and briefing notes, help with administrative duties, and support the creation of technical documentation and reports. In order to support other teams within the unit, the intern could also be asked to complete additional duties inside the TMN Unit. The six-month internship is unpaid. Under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned, interns work five days a week for a total of forty hours. The United Nations does not provide interns with financial compensation. Interns’ sponsoring institutions or costs associated with travel, visas, housing, and living expenses are their responsibility.
