A six-month training and support programme called the Climate Democracy Accelerator (CDA) equips participants to design and carry out a fair and inclusive process for a just climate transition. A project to implement a participatory programme with a climate focus that takes into account the needs and opinions of local communities will be developed by participants.

How much time do participants have to commit to the course?

  • Four cohorts of fifteen leaders from the public and private sectors will participate in this programme, which runs from April 2024 to September 2025.
  • Within the second group:
Between April and July 2024, participants should budget two hours a week on average for the training programme and mentorship.
  • The CDA programme will accept additional applications the next year if you are unsure about your availability for the programme or if you are not chosen this time.
  • It will also be required of participants to reserve a few important dates on their calendars in order to attend the live sessions of the programme.
  • Participants will use the $10,000 USD cash to implement their action plan within a year of the training’s conclusion.
  • The action plan you have created will determine how much time you spend on your project.
the chance to submit an application for a second reward of USD 20,000 to be given to the outstanding project created by programme participants.

What other requirements do participants need to meet?

  • Create a project or action plan that will be carried out with the help of the program’s resources.
  • Involve stakeholders both inside and outside the company to create an action plan.
  • Attend and take part in sessions and activities devoted to mentorship and peer assistance.
  • Report on the status of the project using surveys and learning summaries.

Eligibility

  • Policymakers, employees, and representatives of local government who wish to start an inclusive programme for equitable decision-making about climate change. Remember this: Since the grant recipient must be a non-governmental organisation, government organisations applying must have a partnership with a civil society organisation or non-governmental organisation.
  • Employees of civil society organisations and/or climate advocates who wish to work with a government institution to develop a climate-focused participatory programme. Remember this: It is highly suggested that civil society organisations requesting for funding collaborate with a government entity in order to oversee the action plan’s implementation.
  • We especially encourage applications from governments and organisations in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Members of the Open Government Partnership or People Powered will take precedence.
  • Through this programme, People Powered is unable to provide funding to volunteer organisations or recently established civil society organisations. Before being selected for the programme, your organisation must demonstrate that it has been in operation for at least a full year and that it has raised enough money to sustain those operations.
  • Possess both a board of directors or advisory group and paid employees.
  • Hold a non-profit organisation registration in the nation where it conducts business.
