The Global Citizenship Learning Programme application period for 2024 is now open. University students who are dedicated to giving back to their communities are the participants in the Global Citizenship Learning Programme. By expanding their areas of influence and developing their potential, they will eventually serve as role models and advocates for global citizenship.

Eligibility

  • Students between the ages of 18 and 25 who are presently enrolled in one of our partner universities and have a strong interest in local community impact are eligible to apply for the Global Citizenship Learning Programme.
  • To effectively communicate and comprehend others when debating the intricate nature of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), applicants must possess a sufficient command of the English language.

When you take part in the programme for global citizenship education, you will:

  • Engage in practical seminars, training, and mentorship projects to gain firsthand experience with diverse cultures and acquire the ability to collaborate beyond geographical and personal boundaries.
  • Collaborate and establish connections with fellow student activists in China, India, Ghana, Chile, Germany, and the US.
  • Increase your understanding of pertinent international issues pertaining to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
  • Drive change initiatives—small and large—for greater effect by co-creating and developing impact projects with Fellows and partners in your neighbourhood and throughout the globe.
  • Develop your abilities in areas including design thinking, project management, storytelling, podcasting, multicultural communication, teamwork, ethical leadership, and systems thinking.
  • Be asked to attend an entirely sponsored yearly convention in person in China, India, Ghana, Germany, Chile, and/or the United States, contingent upon active participation.
  • Join our exclusive, supportive, lifetime global network of more than 600 Senior Melton Fellows upon programme completion.

The following is what you may anticipate as a participant in the 1.5-year Global Citizenship Learning Programme:

  • Participate in online learning activities (around five hours each month) using our online learning modules as described above.
  • Participate in international project teams (average estimate: 5 hours/month, depending on the project). Engage in community projects (about 5 hours per month, depending on your level of involvement in the local community).
  • Note: To accommodate in-person components of the programme, there may be slight modifications made to the modules and the illustrated timeline.
