The World animals Fund (WWF) is accepting applications from the present and upcoming generations of conservation scientists, leaders, and practitioners for master’s-level coursework with a focus on aspects of coexistence and conflict between people and animals in Uganda.

Areas

  • With the goal of bridging academic brilliance and conservation research, this fellowship will offer practical training and educational opportunities.
  • A wide range of themes may be covered by the suggested study topics. Finalists will be chosen through a competitive selection process and evaluated according to a set of criteria, which may or may not include the following:
  • Academic and professional potential and contributions: the dedication of the applicant to their own academic and professional growth.
  • The research proposal’s quality and strength: the originality, applicability, and thoroughness of the proposed plan of action. The suggested work displays an awareness of the justification behind conflicts between people and wildlife. The suggested research effort emphasises the intention to investigate potential solutions at the intersection of climate, conservation, people, and sustainable development; the planned activities are realistically priced and doable within the proposed work plan.
  • Impact on the individual and the community: The applicant’s capacity for leadership and success in conservation research; immediate and long-term effects; and long-term conservation outcomes beyond the intended academic/research timeframe. The proposed effort aims to incorporate a variety of stakeholders, including local and indigenous communities and gender mainstreaming. The applicant exhibits the ability to develop relationships and participate actively with local academic, research, and practise communities.
  • Project measurability: The research that is being suggested has quantifiable results and outputs.
  • Collaborations: The applicant’s proven ability to strengthen alliances beyond the suggested goals and timeline.
  • Letters of recommendation: The applicant satisfies the precise requirements for the fellowship and provides concrete examples that highlight their skills.

Financial Details

  • Applicants may ask for up to $15,000 per year in financing for a maximum of two years.

eligibility

  • To be qualified, applicants must fulfil each of the following requirements.
  • You must be a citizen of Uganda and a registered permanent resident.
  • You must have at least two years of experience working in or conducting research linked to conservation.
  • You must have a track record of dedication to the conservation field.
  • You must have earned a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the master’s programme (e.g., biology, ecology, conservation, zoology, geography), be enrolled in, admitted to, or have applied to one at a recognised institution of higher learning in Uganda.
  • You have to schedule your studies to start no later than January 2025.
