Goal of the Role

  • Palladium is looking to hire a Senior Software Developer to support the Data.Fi Nigeria software development team in a leadership capacity. Under the supervision of the Senior DevOps Manager,
  • s/he will be in charge of leading the development team in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of the National Orphans and Vulnerable Children Management Information System (NOMIS) application.
  • Throughout the development and deployment process, the Senior Software Engineer would be in charge of putting DevOps techniques and methodologies for technical solutions into practice.
  • Keeping an eye on technical meetings, task management, standardization, skill development, documenting sprint demos, and validating team performance indicators,
  • he or she will also make sure that team members and other project functional areas are effectively communicating.
  • Along with the informatics advisor, s/he will support the technical working groups of the Community of Practice (CoP) and make sure that the CoP technical teams cooperate and share code.
  • The software development team will be mobilized by him or her in support of the technical plan and product vision.
  • The Senior DevOps Manager will get reports from the Senior Software Developer.

Principal Obligations and Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and integration of solutions to guarantee their effective delivery, excellent quality, and long-term viability.
  • Oversee the NOMIS platform’s system development process by allocating tasks, keeping an eye on the process, and making sure efficiency and quality are upheld.
  • Oversee the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of digital tools at the national level with the software development team.
  • Assume a leading position in the creation and execution of technical plans, solution architectures, and the technology suite for the project.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, such as product managers, to comprehend business needs and assist in converting them into specifications that the development team can use.
  • Take the lead in organizing and recording the technical requirements for the features and design of the system.
  • Make sure that every request for upgrades, bug reports, and technical and user needs are appropriately documented, vetted, and prioritized into the product and portfolio backlogs. These items should also be thoroughly logged as Epics, Features, Stories, and Tasks on Jira.
  • In order to gain the product owners’ permission and acceptance, co-facilitate review sprints with other stakeholders. You should also reflect on past sprints to identify lessons learned and implementable changes that can be carried over to future sprints.
  • Be mindful of security issues and take steps to resolve them through regular security testing, teamwork with back-end engineers, and security expertise.
  • guiding team members and making sure they follow established guidelines for software quality.
  • Take the lead in putting Palladium’s standardized software development methodology, together with its supporting tools and standard operating procedures (SOPs), into practice.
  • Prioritize and budget for the resources needed for the development of systems.
  • Lead code reviews and take part in building efficient, scalable, and testable programming.
  • Lead the way in implementing and adhering to international best practices, such as security standards, open standards, coding conventions that are appropriate, and the concepts of digital development.

Essential Requirements:

  • Computer science or a similar field as a bachelor’s degree.
  • five years of expertise creating and executing digital health solutions, particularly in relation to data and technology solutions in a data-driven setting.
  • strong technical foundation and comprehension of, or practical expertise in, creating and executing information systems that assist social protection and health initiatives.
  • At least two years of experience managing teams that design, develop, and implement software solutions from start to finish.
  • strong understanding of Bootstrap and associated technologies for responsive web design.
  • familiarity in schema design, performance analysis, and relational databases.
  • familiarity with utilizing cloud technologies such as containers to implement large-scale solutions.
  • strong Java programming skills and methods.
  • strong familiarity with Hibernate, Spring Security, Spring Boot, and Spring JPA.
  • strong familiarity with version control systems like Git or others.
  • strong understanding of JavaScript environments, such as Angular and React/Redux.
  • advanced familiarity with PostgreSQL and MySQL as well as relational data modeling concepts
  • Establish, hone, modify, and oversee software development and information technology operations (DevOps) procedures and instruments in collaboration with the DevOps as needed.
  • familiarity with project management software such as Jira, Planner, and Microsoft Teams.
  • expertise collaborating with technology teams to guarantee that solution architecture and design outputs satisfy business needs.
  • The capacity to adjust to new frameworks and technologies, as front-end development is a constantly changing area.
