A SHORT SUMMARY OF THE POSITION’S FUNCTIONS

  • The IT Assistant works closely with the UNESCO IT team under the direction of the Director of the Multisectoral Regional Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Bangkok, as well as under the direct supervision of the Head of Executive Office.
  • The position’s primary areas of focus include helpdesk, user and desktop support (hardware and software), local IT operations, and IT support. numerous information technology support tasks to guarantee the efficient provision of company IT services. oversees, runs, plans, and helps others with IT support and operations.
  • The incumbent is in charge of meeting all requirements for competencies, abilities, and certificates as well as comprehending the organizational structure, rules, regulations, and policy.

Important responsibilities, tasks, and obligations include:

  1. Offer users first-line desktop assistance for hardware, software, and network/internet problems.
  2. Makes an effort to respond to as many service requests or incident calls as feasible right away.
  3. Completes activities associated with planned service requests, such as site surveys, equipment replacement, LAN connection, software installation, and site equipment installation or de-installation.
  4. Identifies and fixes any connectivity, hardware, or software issue quickly.
  5. Offers end users introductory instruction on how to use common UNESCO systems and apps.
  6. Records all actions in the automated tracking system, including information from site surveys, actions done to finish tasks, issues encountered, status, etc.
  7. Uses established procedures to escalate issues or duties to the proper parties.
  8. Spots trends in problems and makes recommendations for fixes.
  9. Stays up to date with technological advancements at the UN and in business generally.
  10. Helps with scripting, testing, and assistance for software distribution upgrades.
  11. Assist the National ICT Officer in carrying out the ICT accountabilities in the nation to maximize ICT effectiveness and efficiency and to encourage the use of ICTs to further the mission of UNESCO.
  12. Handles further related tasks as needed.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCES

Education

  • Computer science or a similar topic as a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A graduate degree in computer science, software engineering, business administration, information technology management, or a related technical subject is necessary.
  • MCSA: Windows and MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure certification, or an equivalent.
  • secondary education is complete or a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar discipline is required.

Experience at Work

  • knowledge of internet ticketing methods
  • possessing knowledge of Microsoft Administrative Tools (such as Intune, SCCM, Active Directory, and Print Management).
  • knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products and related customer service
  • knowledge of setting up and supporting international and high-level conferences
  • The minimum requirement for full-time IT assistance is four (4) years of relevant experience (with secondary education) or one (1) year of relevant experience (with a bachelor’s degree).
