They want to support the de-risking work for ambitious concepts tackling significant issues at the translational nexus of protein engineering and sustainability for this cycle of Garden Grants. The suggested effort should not be merely the next step along an already established road, but rather the first step on a new one.

Beyond providing quick cash, Garden Grants promotes learning and teamwork by openly disclosing the issues that proposals seek to solve while safeguarding applicants’ original concepts.

Two sections make up proposals:

  • The context, significance, and objectives of the project are described in the problem statement. Problem statements are made public in the interest of expanding knowledge and community.
  • The suggested work to address the problem statement is described in the solution statement. Solution Statements are kept secret to safeguard applicants’ concepts.
  • They provide you the option of submitting your own unique Problem and Solution Statements or responding to pre-written Problem Statements from the Problem Statement Repository with Solution Statements.
  • A high-level budget, a timetable of deadlines, and team biographies are also included in proposals.

Financial Details

  • $20k to $200k is what they can provide.
  • They DO take into account the amount asked when reviewing; given all other factors being equal, initiatives that require less finance will be given preference.

Eligibility

  • In short, everyone except for-profit businesses.
  • Any university student or employee of a nonprofit organisation is welcome to apply; in fact, they encourage them to do so as often as possible.
  • Applications from any nation are welcome.
  • The quality of your idea, the clarity with which you describe your initial efforts to bring it to life, and the proof you offer of your capacity to succeed in your endeavour are what matter; there are no prerequisite credentials or academic affiliations.
  • For-profit businesses are being left out since it is extremely difficult to fund them with this philanthropic cash.
