Preventing and protecting health personnel, patients, and their families from Covid-19 will be included as crosscutting concerns for this round’s financing objectives. As a result, they are currently inviting applications for jobs that will enable services to address the COVID-19 epidemic.

Priority Sectors

  • The following are the program’s top priority areas:
  • Beds, wheelchairs, and other patient-related equipment (for this round, equipment may also include PPE for staff and patients, or any other equipment to help palliative care patients during the Covid-19 crisis) are all examples of patient-related equipment.
  • Projects that support paediatric palliative care services, such as buying toys, incorporating paediatric services into a current programme, creating advocacy materials, etc.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, aprons, gowns, face shields, temperature guns, hand sanitizer, soap, and others may be included in the category of drugs used in palliative care for this round.
  • Costs associated with capital improvements, such as remodelling facilities to enhance patient comfort (in this round, capital improvements may involve modifying existing spaces to safeguard staff and patients’ safety amid the Covid-19 crisis).
  • Increasing access to palliative care in rural regions (applications for work on educating communities and patients about Covid-19 will be accepted for this round. Applications for reimbursement of airtime or virtual visits for patients receiving palliative care will also be taken into account.)
  • Creating modest palliative care projects (for this round, requests for funding for the costs of modifying current initiatives and offerings in light of the Covid-19 situation will be taken into consideration).
  • Africa hosts training sessions for those who provide palliative care services (for this round, training in handling Covid-19, including prevention, containment, referral, and use of PPE, will also be taken into consideration).
  • Applications for funding towards the costs of airtime, data, hardware, or software for remote service delivery, training, mentoring, or meetings will be taken into consideration for this round.
  • Applications from organisations with yearly revenues under $500,000 will be given priority by the trustees.

Financial Details

  • Grant amounts range from £500 to $5,000.
  • You may spend up to 15% of the award on general operating expenses or administrative expenses.

Criteria

  • The goal of this plan is to raise the standard of palliative care in local communities by giving funding to small, locally based institutions. Applicants must be able to show how their project will benefit nearby patients and families in a real and practical way. Priority is given to applications for goods that directly enhance the patient experience and the calibre of palliative care services for individuals of all ages.
  • Priority will be given to applications from firms with yearly revenues under $500,000.
  • Each candidate may request up to £750 for their core or administrative expenditures in their application. This element has to be a part of a larger proposal. Only if the organisation applying makes a strong case for the necessity of core/administration costs, will this portion of a grant be approved. The maximum grant size that can be sought for remains at $5,000 as a result of this.
  • Grantees must promptly share with APCA any pertinent information on the grant that is needed for the program’s expansion and other official objectives.
  • Grants will not be given to an organisation in successive years in order to make the initiative accessible to as many organisations as feasible. Therefore, a small grant recipient organisation must wait at least a year (counting from the day the final narrative report and financial report were approved) before becoming eligible for another grant.

Ineligible

  • initiatives that do not provide palliative care
  • taking part at conferences
