The Pezcoller Foundation/Award for Excellency in Cancer Research by Pezcoller Foundation is now accepting nominations. The esteemed Pezcoller Foundation AACR International Award for Extraordinary Achievement in Cancer Research was created in 1997 to honour a world-renowned scientist who has made a significant contribution to translational cancer research or who has made a major scientific discovery in basic cancer research.

Candidates must still be actively engaged in cancer research, have a track record of notable recent publications, and be engaged in ongoing work that shows promise for future significant contributions to advancements in the field of cancer.

Award

  • Immediately after being chosen, the prize recipient will get an unrestricted grant, a memorial prize, and they’ll deliver a scientific talk in conjunction with the AACR Annual Meeting.
  • Prior to the official Award celebration in Trento, Italy on May 11, 2024, the Award recipient will also deliver scientific talks at the Universities of Padua and Trento.

Eligibility

  • Any institution worldwide engaged in cancer research, cancer medicine, or cancer-related studies may nominate cancer researchers affiliated with them. Institutions in academia, business, or government are examples of these institutions.
  • The recipient of a Nobel Prize in any field in the past is not eligible to receive this Award.
  • The Award is not available to institutions or groups.

Nomination

Nominators are required to keep their nominations strictly private. You must submit all nominations online by going to this page and choosing Applications/Awards from the main menu. You can open a free myAACR account if you don’t already have one. Nominations sent on paper won’t be taken.

The following must be included in eligible nominations:

  • A letter of nomination in English (maximum 1,000 words) detailing the nominee’s substantial contributions to translational cancer research or major scientific discoveries in basic cancer research, as well as the field’s effect on these achievements. The letter must describe in detail the candidate’s present research endeavours and explain how their work shows promise for future significant contributions to the cancer field. The given letter must cite all publications that specifically support the cited research accomplishments.
  • A succinct scientific citation (maximum of 50 words) outlining the significant scientific contribution(s) supporting the award candidate’s nomination.
