Australian scholarships for ASEAN

The Australian government provides the next generation of leaders from ASEAN member states with the coveted Australia for ASEAN scholarships.

By pursuing a Master’s degree, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to influence change and contribute to the development of strong intercultural ties with Australia. 10 Australia scholarships for ASEAN Scholarships will be given to each ASEAN member state.

The Indo-Pacific Emerging Leaders Program, which will offer a variety of learning, networking, and professional development opportunities, will also be attended by Australia for ASEAN scholars.

The ASEAN Outlook for the Indo-Pacific identifies maritime, connectivity, economic development, and the sustainable development goals 2030 as its four priority areas. Applicants are evaluated on these factors as well as their professional and personal qualities, academic proficiency, and potential to influence one of these areas.

Applications from women, individuals with disabilities, and members of marginalized groups are especially encouraged.

Applications for classes starting in 2024 will be accepted starting on February 1 and ending on April 29, 2023.

Scholarships from Australia for ASEAN are provided for the least amount of time required for the recipient to finish the academic program prescribed by the Australian educational institution, including any relevant training.

Recipients of scholarships will receive:

  • Returning by air
  • A one-time establishing grant upon arrival and the entire contribution of tuition fees toward living costs
  • A spot in the indo-pacific emerging leaders degree,
  • a fieldwork allowance for coursework master’s students and research students who must complete a fieldwork component as part of their program,
  • and an introductory academic program.

How to Apply

  • By 11.59 PM AEST on April 29, 2022, applications must be submitted electronically through the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS). Before submitting your application, you must register and prove your eligibility. Applications and/or supporting documents submitted after the deadline won’t be taken into account.
  • Applicants for the Australia for ASEAN Scholarship must fulfill all criteria listed in the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook.
  • Additionally, applicants must fulfill regional requirements and submit pertinent supporting paperwork.

Selecting a candidate

After eligibility verification, applications will be shortlisted, and only those individuals will be contacted. An interview will be a part of the selection process.

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

  • Advancement of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific professional and personal leadership traits, including appropriate work experience, are potential outcomes of academic competency.
  • Candidates who are chosen will be contacted in late 2022. The Australian Government’s requirements must be met, as established by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, and state and territorial government regulations must also be met in order to travel.

How to apply for a scholarship through Australia Awards

Prior to applying:

  • To find out more about eligibility, priority areas, and application procedures, check the opening and closing dates for your nation and choose it from the list of participating nations. For opening and closing dates, visit the participating countries page.
  • You must read the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook if you plan to apply. General eligibility requirements, selection procedures, entitlements, and responsibilities are all included in the manual. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade may at any time and without prior notice change and update this manual.
  • While some nations encourage and permit online applications, others demand paper applications, For further details, see your participating country profile.

Online Applications

  • Visit the Online Australia Scholarships Information System to submit an online application (OASIS). You will need to provide some information while registering online in order to prove your eligibility. A special registration number, username, and password will subsequently be provided to you.
  • It’s not necessary for you to submit your application right away. Up until the specified closing date listed on the applicable participating nation profile, you can create a draft application form and make changes to it and your supporting documentation.
  • Your application cannot be modified after submission. We strongly suggest online applicants to submit their applications well in advance of the deadline. In the days before the deadline, OASIS is heavily used, therefore applicants might suffer delays.

Applying by mail;
