Deadline for submission is 3rd March 2023 | Advancing Regional Vaccine Manufacturing And Access in Africa Fellowship By Afya na Haki.
In accordance with its “Advancing Regional Vaccine Manufacturing And Access in Africa (ARMA) Program. ” Afya na Haki (Ahaki) is accepting applications for a fellowship. The main goal of the fellowship is to increase African people’s abilities to perform policy-related research on vaccine production in Africa.
The fellows will also help strengthen evidence-based lobbying initiatives to encourage local vaccine production utilizing Africentric strategies.
Multiple vulnerabilities and deficiencies in the current health systems of various African nations were systematically revealed by the COVID-19 epidemic. It further revealed how unequally Africans have access to vaccines and how dependent they are on the Global North.
Therefore, the Program will concentrate on strengthening African advocacy and research methodologies that strategically improve vaccine production and access in Africa. This program will highlight the significance of upholding African government commitments on vaccine-related research, development, and manufacturing. Under frameworks like the Partnership on African Vaccine Manufacturing (PAVM) framework for Action.
Including going beyond strong commitments and resolutions to actual implementation. The fellows will help analyze planned African pharmaceutical manufacturing interventions including Partnerships for African Vaccine Manufacturing (PAVM) and the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) to assess their viability.
It is envisaged that the fellows will spot chances for lobbying to have an impact on how pharmaceutical policies are developed and implemented.
Fellows will be equipped to conduct research and engage in impact campaigns with the goal of persuading African states to fund vaccine development and manufacturing.
