This fully-funded scholarship is designed to encourage mobility of sub-Saharan Africans to study in host institutions within the Eastern Africa region. Its major aim is to promote development of teaching staff in universities and build capacity for staff in the public sector with the aid of postgraduate training in the selected postgraduate study programmes at the listed institutions. There are sixteen (16) participating host institutions in the east African region. For more information about the host institutions, please click the link below. The link also contains host countries, programmes funded and application links. Applicants are strongly advised to apply to institutions that are outside their home countries.
Make sure you are aware of the host institution’s admission requirements and get in touch with the contact person indicated in the call for applications. Alternatively, you can check the links to the websites of the host institutions or universities to get more information.
You are also advised to thoroughly read the specific call for scholarship applications for the programme that you’re interested in and check the DAAD scholarship requirements before you apply. The call for the scholarship applications for the intake 2022 was released in October 2021.
And lastly, all applications must be made directly to the DAAD Portal for scholarship. A separate application must be made to the host institution of your choice for the admission eligibility into the programme. Every call for the scholarship application has a direct link to the DAAD portal for the particular programme that you’re interested in.
The deadline for the 2022 intake will be communicated when the call for applications is published. However, the DAAD Portal application deadline is December 15th, 2021. It is important to note that each host institution has set its own deadline.
