AfDB Japan African Dream Scholarships 2021-2022 (JADS)

The JADS Program is a project by Japan and AfDB which was started in 2017 so as to give 2 years scholarships to high archiving graduate students in Africa. These will enable them to do post-graduate or Master’s degree programs in selected areas of continental development as well as Japan. –  AfDB Japan African Dream Scholarships 2021-2022 (JADS)

The Application Deadline is 22^nd September 2021.

The overall goal of the AFDB and Japan Government is to improve on skills and human resource in Africa under the Bank’s High 5s agenda which are Lighten up Africa, Feed Africa, Industrialize Africa, Integration of Africa, improve African standards of living). The major areas of study are agriculture, energy, health, environment, and engineering. This program aims at improving inter-university relationships between Japan and Africa. The JADS scholars are expected to return to their home nations and use the acquired skills and knowledge towards continental development.

Requirements

• Be an AfDB member country national
• Be in proper health
• Have a Bachelor degree in the energy fields earned at least a year before application
• Have more than 1 year of working experience in this field
• Have a conditional acceptance letter to one of the JADS partner universities an enrolling for the for the upcoming academic year
• Applicants should be living or working in their home country
• Should not have enrolled in any other graduate degree programs
• Shouldn’t be an Executive Director, staff or working at the African Development bank group, or even a close relative.

Benefits

• Economy Air ticket from your home country to the host university at the beginning of the program and at the end.
• Tuition fees for the program and medical insurance
• A monthly stipend for all living expenses, books included.

 

However, the JADS scholarship doesn’t cover:

• VISA Application costs
• Family member expenses
• Extra training
• Language programs that aren’t included in the graduate program
• Workshops seminars and internships
• Study material such as computers

 

Application Steps for AfDB Japan African Dream Scholarships 2021-2022 (JADS)

1. Request for application forms at the partner universities and specific procedures. Email JADS@AFB.ORG for more info.
2. Fill in the application forms and send the necessary documents to the university
3. Evaluation by the University and applicants are selected.
4. Selected applicants are forwarded to the AfDB
5. Review of applicants and final list is prepared
