Apply now for the TWAS Research Professors Program in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) 2023.
The program’s goal is to give institutions and research groups in least developed countries (LDCs) the chance to build long-lasting relationships with TWAS members and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni to collaborate on research projects and receive advanced training, thereby assisting in the development of local scientific capacities.
A handful of TWAS Members and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni given opportunities to accept positions as TWAS Research Professors in Least Developed Countries as part of the initiative. The TWAS Research Professor will hold the position for a year, and envisaged that they will spend two to four weeks at the host institution during that time. After the visit is over, both the TWAS Research Professor and the host organization required to submit a thorough report.
Benefit
- TWAS will pay for the honorarium, round-trip economy class flights, and any additional travel costs incurred by the TWAS Research Professor. However, required of the host institution to pay for regional costs.
Eligibility
- Applications accepted from research groups and scientific institutions in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
- This programme only provides support for visits of TWAS Members and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni to Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
- Only one TWAS and OWSD portfolio program may be applied for per calendar year by each applicant.
- In that year, applicants are ineligible to participate in the TWAS Visiting Professor programs at any other university.
- However, one exception: The institution’s head may still apply for another program even though they have invited an outside scholar to offer their expertise as part of the TWAS Visiting Professor programs.
Requirement
- The TWAS Research Professor expected to work closely with staff at the host institution to enhance current initiatives and/or support the development of fresh lines of inquiry.
- A series of relevant lectures and seminars for research students also requested from the TWAS Research Professor.
