The Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in collaboration with schools of Public Health in five other high burden Malaria countries (Tanzania, Nigeria, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger and Burkina Faso) is implementing the African Leadership and Management training for impact in Malaria Eradication (ALAMIME) programme 2022.The program is soliciting applications for the Second cohort for the training.
The African Leadership and Management training for Impact in Malaria Eradication (ALAMIME) Programme 2022 aims to
- Train people working in the malaria program in the respective countries at national and sub-national level to increase their analytical and problem-solving skills, leadership abilities
- Implementation of evidence-based policies and approaches that adapt to the changing malaria landscape to support the transition from malaria control to elimination.
- Alongside individual capacity building, the program aims to establish fora within the respective Ministries of Health that will bring together stakeholders supporting malaria eradication as well as alumni of the ALAMIME program to drive Malaria eradication efforts in the country.
Programme Modules
The training will cover 180 hours and consists of one or two online courses, two or three face-to-face modules and the practicum.
- Module 1: Introduction to leadership and management and data use for malaria elimination
- Module 2: Leading and managing programs
- Module 3: The science and art of malaria elimination
- Module 4: Data use and evidence for decision making
- Practicum: Analysis of malaria program data and generating counter measures

Eligibility
- Applicants should be public servants working in a malaria control program at National or Sub-National (local government) level in the six consortium member countries (Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria and Tanzania).
