Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Uganda Program 2022 is a free entrepreneurship six month program paid for by the U.S. Department of State to support the development of innovative ideas led by women. AWE uses a hybrid model that combines the online platform Dream Builder (developed through a partnership between Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management and global copper mining company Freeport-McMoRan) with in-class mentoring and facilitation.

Benefits

• AWE provides women entrepreneurs with the skills, resources, and networks needed to start and scale successful businesses. 
• Through AWE, women entrepreneurs participate in a facilitated entrepreneurship program supplemented with localized content.
• The program provides networking and mentorship opportunities with successful business owners teaching women to create their own business plans and enabling them to understand how to raise funds for business.
• Through AWE, participants learn core business skills, and then get together as a class to discuss the material with experienced implementers, local mentors, and U.S. Exchange Alumni.

Eligibility

• Ugandans from Gulu, Kampala, Mbarara or Jinja dealing in agribusiness, small scale manufacturing, technology or creative, tourism, and having a unique or impactful business in the community.
• One who is certain to complete all the six month duration of the program
• Female entrepreneur
• Person looking to scale your business, access financing, market linkages, and building your network
• Have basic computer skills
• Able to commit five hours every week to attend an entrepreneurship program
• Fluent in English
