An annual prize presented by the Academy, the Washington College of Law Human Rights Essay Award seeks to promote the creation of scholarly works in the area of international human rights law. The “Protection and Guarantee of Human Rights in Digital Environments” is the subject of the 2024 prize. Participants are free to select any topic associated with this theme. To avoid disqualification, the essay’s scope must, however, directly relate to the 2024 theme. Furthermore, we would want to point out that we consider both international criminal law and international humanitarian law to be part of international human rights law.

Eligibility
- Must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D. ), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. ), or comparable legal education.
- Must have experience with or interest in international human rights law.
- Pick any topic associated with the 2024 theme of “Protection and Assurance of Human Rights in Digital Environments”
- Keep in mind that the essay’s sources for citation must be legitimate articles.
- Two Awards will be given out by the Academy, one for the best article written in English and the other for the best essay written in Spanish.
