The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is happy to announce that purposes are actually open for its 2027 Artists in Residence Programme, which has been working since 2022. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) Artists in Residence (AIR) Programme goals to advance arts-observe as analysis in one or a mixture of Visual Arts and Fine Arts, Music, Theatre, Performance and Dance, Design, Film and Television, and Literary Arts.

The main goal of the Artists in Residence Programme is the preparation of a minimum of one artistic output submission inside the residency interval that complies with the Department of Higher Education’s standards for artistic outputs. University of Johannesburg (UJ) invites rising and established artists from around the globe, ideally with a connection to Africa, to apply for residencies commencing in 2027.

Benefits

Eligibility

Applicants should:

• Not be affiliated with one other tertiary establishment in South Africa.
