Applications are actually open for the 2026 Africa Uncensored/KAS Africa Investigative Journalism Lab. Africa Uncensored, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Regional Media Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa, is happy to invite functions for a one-week Advanced Investigative Journalism Training to be held in Mombasa, Kenya from 4th to eighth November 2026.

This intensive residential coaching is designed to sharpen the investigative abilities of practising journalists throughout East Africa and past. Participants will work instantly with skilled investigative reporters, editors, and digital forensics specialists to develop and strengthen real-world tales, whereas constructing abilities in knowledge journalism, supply safety, authorized frameworks, and digital verification.

Training Objectives

  • Strengthen members’ capability to conceptualise, analysis, and execute high-impact investigative tales.
  • Provide hands-on coaching in knowledge journalism, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and digital verification instruments.
  • Equip journalists with information of authorized protections, security protocols, and moral concerns in investigative reporting.
  • Foster a regional community of investigative journalists dedicated to accountability journalism.
  • Support the event of not less than one publishable investigative story per participant by the tip of the coaching.

Requirements

This coaching is focused at:

  • Mid-career and senior journalists with a minimal of three (3) years of energetic reporting expertise.
  • Journalists who’ve beforehand labored on or expressed curiosity in investigative and accountability reporting.
  • Staff reporters, freelancers, editors, and multimedia journalists actively engaged in reporting, investigative journalism, or editorial management from print, broadcast, and digital media shops.
  • Journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Somalia, and different African nations are inspired to apply.
