2026 TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry for Chemist ($5,000 prize) – Opportunities For Africans

Applications at the moment are open for the 2026 TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry. The 2026 award, sponsored by Searle Company Ltd, can be given to a chemist not older than 45, nationwide of a science-and-technology lagging nation (STLC), who has been residing and dealing there for a minimal of two years instantly previous to his/her nomination. The award is value $5,000.

Nominations are accepted from TWAS members in addition to science academies, nationwide analysis councils, universities and scientific establishments in creating and developed international locations.

Eligibility:

• Eligible candidates for the 2026 Award are younger chemists (not older than 45), nationwide of a Scientifically and Technologically Lagging (STL) nation, who’ve been residing and dealing in an eligible nation for a minimal of two years instantly previous to their nomination. All fields of Chemistry are eligible.
• Individuals who’ve beforehand gained a TWAS-named Award should not eligible to be nominated for Awards named after a distinct TWAS Fellow. 

Selection:

• A pre-screening of the nominees can be completed at TWAS,
• The nomination dossiers of the certified candidates will then be submitted to jury members for their analysis. Based on this analysis Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman will choose the recipient.
