   Purpose of Consultancy

The Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition (WHRD-IC) is a transnational, intersectional feminist coalition of ladies human rights defenders, feminists, trans and non-binary activists, organisations, and allies.

To develop a brand new Global Report on the Situation of Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs),  WHRD-IC seeks a researcher, group of researchers, or analysis organisation.

  Objectives of the Research

The guide will produce a world report that:

  • Provides an outline of key developments, challenges, threats, and violations confronted by WHRDs globally.
  • Develops cross-regional, cross-issue, and cross-movement evaluation of WHRDs’ work and dangers.
  • Identifies new and rising dynamics in the WHRD panorama.
  • Documents and amplifies tales of resistance, resilience, and hope.
  • Analyses efficient feminist techniques and methods and their impacts.
  • Offers concrete suggestions for worldwide, regional, and native stakeholders on safety, assist, and funding.

  • Duration: February – November 2026 (10 months)
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: Approximately 80 days
  • Reporting to: Executive Coordinator, Knowledge Co-Creation Working Group

  Scope of Work

Research Design & Methodology

  • Develop an Inception Report with goals, scope, methodology, and workplan.
  • Ensure variety of areas, themes, identities, and actions.
  • Possible strategies:
    • Literature assessment
    • Semi-structured interviews
    • Focus group discussions
    • Remote documentation
    • Case study assortment
  • Build upon current WHRD-IC analysis and publications.

Data Collection

  • Conduct interviews and/or focus teams with WHRD-IC members and allies.
  • Identify gaps and suggest outreach to make sure steadiness.
  • Engage members in case/story assortment.
  • Ensure processes are secure, moral, trauma-informed, and culturally delicate.

Intersectional & Cross-Movement Lens

  • Use monitoring techniques to make sure balanced illustration.
  • Include underrepresented teams and contexts.
  • Engage grassroots and marginalised teams all through.

Analysis

  • Identify patterns in challenges, violations, dangers, and threats.
  • Highlight rising developments and new varieties of assaults.
  • Document optimistic tales and feminist methods.
  • Ground insights in intersectional and decolonial feminist evaluation.

Drafting the Report

  • Produce a coherent, accessible, advocacy-oriented world report.
  • Combine narrative and analytical dimensions.
  • Integrate case research utilizing moral storytelling pointers.

Coalition Engagement

  • Attend coordination conferences with WHRD-IC management.
  • Facilitate digital workshops to refine findings and co-create chapters.
  • Present preliminary findings for suggestions and validation.
  • Participate in the public launch of the report.

  Expected Deliverables

  • Inception Report
  • Data assortment instruments
  • Interim findings report
  • First full draft of the Global Report
  • Revised draft primarily based on suggestions
  • Final Global Report (approx. 40–60 pages)
  • Executive Summary (5–8 pages)

  Timeline

  • Inception Report: March 2026
  • Interim findings report: July 2026
  • First full draft: September 2026
  • Second draft after suggestions: October 2026
  • Final report & government abstract: November 2026

  Required Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in human rights, gender justice, or WHRD analysis.
  • Ability to make use of feminist, intersectional, participatory methodologies.
  • Strong qualitative analysis expertise.
  • Experience with grassroots actors and numerous actions.
  • Familiarity with WHRD ecosystem fascinating.
  • Excellent writing expertise.
  • Ability to work remotely throughout time zones.
  • Strong moral consciousness and secure documentation practices.

  Ethical Considerations & Safety

Researchers should adhere to:

  • Intersectional feminist, human rights, and anti-oppression ideas.
  • Secure communication practices.
  • Trauma-informed, survivor-centred approaches.
  • Confidentiality and safety of delicate data.
  • Informed consent procedures.

  Reporting & Ways of Working

  • Reports to WHRD-IC Executive Coordinator and Knowledge Co-Creation Working Group.
  • WHRD-IC values feminist management, equity, transparency, and powerful communication.
  • Contract period: February 1 – November 30, 2026.

  Compensation

  • Daily charge for as much as 80 working days.
  • Payments made in accordance with a mutually agreed schedule.
