  • Keep track of project or other office accounts’ finances for which you are responsible.

Maintain the ongoing status of allotments versus commitments, ensure that computations are accurate and documentation is correct, and keep track of receipts and payments.

  • Create periodic reports on allocated accounts, highlighting issues brought on by excessive expenses or lower-than-anticipated revenue.
  • Create special reports upon request for various purposes or to shed light on issues.

Compile estimated budget requirements and cost estimates, and help with budget statement preparation for the assigned region.

  • Write regular letters and keep agreements with people to talk about issues pertaining to finances and related tasks.
  • Keep in touch with neighborhood banks to get answers to inquiries about office bank accounts.

Educate and support newly hired personnel on fundamental financial processes and regulations including payments, benefits, currency and banking arrangements, and additional account and finance-related obligations.

  • Start contact as needed to confirm facts, respond to questions, and get further details about accounts and financial transactions.
  • Carry out additional relevant tasks as needed.

Ideal Candidate Characteristics

familiarity with Workday and Cloud ERP, two UNHCR software programs

  • Proficiency in managing cash accounts in field offices
  • Reconciling the system’s month accounts

It will be advantageous to have knowledge of the Cloud ERP’s travel request, travel advance, and travel claims systems.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and Excel.
  • Ability to coordinate with many offices
  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting, or a similar discipline will be beneficial.

English language proficiency is a major asset for the role.

Context of operations and nature of the position:

UNHCR normative JD

The Senior Finance Assistant will work closely with the Administrative Associate in the same unit and report directly to the Administrative Officer in addition to the normal JD. As of right now, the role has no staff supervisors. Furthermore, for the benefit of the entire office, the Senior Financial Assistant will collaborate with other departments in a Multi-Function Team when necessary.
