The Video News Production Fellowship is currently accepting applications. The goal of Democracy Now! is to increase diversity in newsrooms and educate the upcoming generation of journalists.The opportunity to contribute their distinctive voices, opinions, and experiences to the newsroom will allow fellows to enhance their talents and gain experience in a daily live TV news setting. Staff members from Democracy Now! offer one-on-one guidance and mentoring to fellows to help them make the most of their exposure to newsroom, production, and online publishing practises.

responsibilities

  • Assembling visual components and video packages for newscasts and websites.
  • Collaborating with the production staff when the morning programme is live.
  • Editing content for the online and social media while assisting the Production, DN!en Espaol, and Digital teams.
  • Event packages, containing speeches, protests, press conferences, and other news events, are filmed and edited.
  • Using studio cameras and a teleprompter.
  • More tasks as needed.

Eligibility

  • For the duration of the one-year fellowship, candidates must be able to work full-time in New York City and possess a current US work permit.
    experience shooting and editing videos for at least three years.
  • Adobe Suite knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Devoted to Democracy Now’s goal and obsessed with local, national, and international news!
  • Dedication to the independent media mission of Democracy Now!.
  • Creative, adaptable, and able to handle the demands of a live news situation.
  • Tech-savvy, conversant with the majority of social networking sites, and eager to learn new systems and technology.
  • Spanish and English bilingualism is a plus.
