Responsibilities

  • The training assistant will do the following tasks within the scope of their authority:
  • Coordinate and plan every part of the logistics for the many types of training that are provided by external trainers, consultants, or consultants.
  • Assist with the annual assessment of the clients’ training needs; communicate with participants, trainers, outside partners, and organization-wide Training focal points; plan travel; prepare training materials; and offer on-site support.
  • Create purchase requests, gather training evaluations, draft terms of reference, and check invoice accuracy.
  • Monitor and monitor budget and expense records for various training events; communicate with different counterparts on purchase requests, invoicing, and reclassifications; and provide advice on the most affordable ways to conduct training sessions.
  • Support conference planning with administrative and logistical assistance.
  • In the Training area, support other General Service employees by contributing to, editing, and proofreading papers.
  • Participate in the creation, implementation, and assessment of training and development programs for RSCE Client Missions. These programs cover a wide range of activities, such as planning, leadership and management, technical and substantive training, safety and security, induction training, and communication skills.
  • Support the creation of specialized training programs that are tailored to the operational needs and staff development requirements of each mission, as well as the systems or techniques used to notify mission staff about the training and development possibilities available. By using learning management systems and/or automated applications, provide administrative and logistical support for the organization and delivery of a variety of training and learning activities. Inform staff members of the RSCE’s available learning opportunities and practices.
  • collect, compile, and keep track of statistical data on training activities, especially with the help of automated tools and programs.
  • conduct research on a variety of training-related topics, aid in training monitoring, and create notes or reports. In order to guarantee that integrated training is created and provided to address a variety of demands, coordinate with military and UN police training personnel in the Client Mission. Prepare written answers to questions on training-related topics.
  • carry out additional tasks as and when directed by the supervisor.

Education

  • It must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Experience at Work

  • A minimum of five (5) years of steadily increasing responsibility in the design, implementation, and/or evaluation of training programs, or in related fields including determining training needs and formulating training plans, is necessary.
  • For candidates who hold a first-level degree or higher, the required number of years of relevant experience is lowered to three (3).
  • Experience working for a comparable international organization or non-governmental organization in a conflict or post-conflict situation is preferred.
  • This experience should include peacekeeping, political missions, and UN agencies, finances, and programmes.
  • Adult training delivery experience is preferred.
  • It would be ideal to have prior experience working in an international or multicultural setting. It would be ideal if you had shared service center experience.
  • It would be ideal to have technical training in the creation and implementation of adult learning opportunities and adult learning programs.

Languages

  • The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. The listed position requires fluency in English. It would be ideal to have knowledge of another UN official language.

Assessment

  • An assessment exercise and a competency-based interview may both be used to evaluate competent individuals.
