The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was founded in 2000 with the goal of promoting the Niger Delta’s quick, even, and sustained development into a region that is economically successful, socially stable, environmentally sustainable, and politically tranquil.

NDDC is seeking applications from those who meet the requirements for:

The Niger Delta Development Commission, or NDDC, is once again launching its Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship Programme to support human resource development in the Niger Delta region. This programme will give our young people the training and skills they need to effectively participate in the Federal Government’s local content programme and to specialise in their areas of study so they can compete internationally in a variety of professional disciplines.
The programme is for candidates who meet the requirements and have applicable Bachelor’s degrees from accredited universities in the professional subjects listed below:
Engineering in Biomedicine
Software Development
Engineering for the Sea
Automotive Engineering
Engineering, Electrical and Electronic
Engineering Robotics
Technology Information
Machine intelligence
Math/Sciences
Health Sciences
Architecture Law Management Hospitality
Science of the environment.

Eligibility

  • A scholar must be a native of the Niger Delta region and hold a First Class Degree, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division in order to qualify for the award.

Choice Process

  • Initial Application: Interested candidates should use the Commission’s website to submit an online application.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted first based on the following standards:
  • Results for WASSCE/NECO
  • Classification of undergraduate degrees (1st Class, Second Class Upper/Lower)
  • Identification of the local government
  • Computer-Based Test: Our consultants in Rivers State will administer a computer-based test to the shortlisted candidates.
  • Candidates must receive a minimum test score of 70% in order to move on to the next phase.
  • Candidates who pass the test will receive further consideration for shortlisting.
  • Final Verification: The Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC) shall conduct the candidates’ final verification.

  • The amount of the international scholarship will depend on the current Naira exchange rate.

Application Method

  • The application must be accompanied by the following files:
  • A current passport photo
  • Letter of Identification from Local Government
  • Admission letter for post-graduate study from a reputable international university
  • Degrees from accredited universities that are relevant
  • NYSC Exemption/Discharge Certificate
  • An automatic registration number will be assigned after the application form has been successfully completed.
  • It is suggested that applicants print out a paper copy of the online-generated acknowledgment for their records.
  • The list of all candidates who have been shortlisted will be published on the NDDC website, www.nddc.gov.ng. These candidates will next be called upon to participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

  • The Commission (NDDC) will not engage in any kind of communication with applicants who did not pass the oral interviews, did not advance from the computer-based test (CBT), or who were not asked for an oral interview.
  • Candidates from Oil Producing Host/Communities/Local Government Areas would receive preference, provided that they fulfil the established cutoff point.
  • The Commission will make sure that beneficiaries in each State are evenly distributed throughout the courses.
  • Deferment, institution and course changes are not allowed.
  • The Commission reserves the sole and total right to make decisions based on the aforementioned criteria and its own internal analysis. The Commission’s decision in this matter is final.
