Eligibility
Participants must fulfil the following requirements in order to participate. Participants will pitch their business ideas to the group.
- The company proposal must showcase the team members’ own work. Regarding the usage of the business pitch both before and after the competition, the author(s) will own all rights. The management team’s background, expertise, and education, the level of product development, performance promises made for the product, and the findings of market research must not be embellished in the business pitch.
- Black-owned businesses situated in the United States and African-based businesses based in Africa are both eligible to enter the competition. Other persons may be a part of the management team and take part in the venture’s planning, but this must apply to at least one team member. One business pitch per participant is allowed for the competition.
- The competition is open to African business owners who founded, ran, and owned enterprises there as well as black-owned businesses operating in the US. In other words, African businesspeople must have been instrumental in the venture’s conception, have significant interest in the company, and serve in senior management positions.
- With the intention of assisting firms registered for at least six months in accessing extra finance, the competition is for the development of innovative ideas and businesses. Companies that submit applications must be less than five years old.
- An effort for up-and-coming African entrepreneurs on the African continent, the competition. Teams should respect their rivals’ rights. Teams who behave improperly may be disqualified by the Africa Business Club @Kelley (ABC @Kelley).
Guidelines
- The maximum number of text pages allowed for the business pitch is seven (12-point font), omitting the cover, title, and exhibit pages.
- The ABC @Kelley 2023 company Pitch Format must be used for the company pitch.
- ABC @Kelley can examine each eligibility requirement individually to see if there are any exceptions.
Evaluation
- The reader should be able to comprehend the business idea after reading the business pitch. Three primary criteria will be used to evaluate the company pitch:
- Originality of business concept
- The business idea’s clarity
- Business’s ability to survive.
