Group World Bank Fellowship Program for Africa:

Recruitment Drive for the Initiative Against Fragility
, Conflict, and Violence: The World Bank Group is accepting applications from qualified individuals with a passion for international development as part of our aim to boost aid to nations grappling with fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV). The Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, East Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa will be the regions with the greatest concentration of jobs. This hiring initiative has ended. It should be noted that only chosen candidates will be contacted.


The Donor Funded Staffing Program (DFSP) is designed to give junior and mid-career professionals exposure, experience, and useful insights into the internal workings of the Bank.

Internationally recruited personnel (IRS) require worldwide experience and global mobility.

Locally recruited personnel (LRS) are not required to have foreign experience or global mobility.

Usually, employees are given renewable term appointments.

A “term appointment” is a contract with a set duration, ranging from one year to a maximum of five years.

On a case-by-case basis, open-ended visits are provided less frequently.

Country offices hire locally for open positions. International hiring may be permitted if a candidate with the necessary skill set cannot be located locally or if global mobility and international experience are crucial.

Obstacles to Employment

  • Employees of the World Bank Group’s spouses and domestic partners may also work for the WBG if:
  • They satisfy a position’s requirements for selection.
  • If neither of them directly or indirectly supervises the other and their duties won’t put them in regular professional contact, they may be appointed to the same vice presidency or department.
  • They cannot be put in the same division or a comparable unit.

Domestic partners and spouses may be placed in the same national office if:

They satisfy a position’s requirements for selection.

Neither one (directly or indirectly) supervises the other.

The assignment is approved by the vice president in charge of the national office after consulting with the manager of the HRSC or the IFC Manager of Recruitment.
