responsibilities and obligations

The Financial Analyst will be a part of the Investor Relations & Sustainable Finance team based in the Paris Office, hired under a local / EU contract with a salary and related payments in EUR. After completing a training phase working with the team in Washington, DC, the Financial Analyst will perform the roles and responsibilities listed below:

Promote the funding and development activities of the IBRD and IDA.

  • Participate in and support the team’s efforts to reach out to institutional and retail investors in Europe.• Produce and update additional investor communication materials for financial market audiences, such as financial, funding, project, and pertinent information for the website, presentations, and newsletters.
  • Proposed replies to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) surveys or inquiries from management, bond holders of the World Bank, and ESG data providers.
  • Create briefing materials and assist the team with blog posts, articles, and other pertinent writing.

Research, Analysis, and Data Management

  • Examine investor patterns in Europe and beyond to broaden the investment base for the IBRD and IDA.
  • Gather, examine, and arrange data and analysis needed for impact reports, as well as information on IBRD and IDA, for reporting to investors.
  • Analytical data support for investor analysis and investor relations products (such as impact reports, investor presentations, and newsletters) can be provided by researching sustainable investor and ESG trends.
  • Conduct research to determine and evaluate the direct and indirect effects of the expanding body of sustainable finance regulations on IBRD and IDA’s capital market activities.
  • As needed, offer the fundraising and investment teams analytical support.
  • Additional ad hoc research and analytical support.

Selection Standards

  • A master’s degree in business management, development, finance, economics, or a similar field of study.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience, or a comparable mix of education and experience in sustainable investment or finance, such as in capital markets or development finance.

The minimum language requirements are English and either French, German, Italian, or Spanish. Foreign languages are advantageous.

  • Effective communication and presentation abilities in both written and oral form, including the capacity to analyze and present data.
  • Strong quantitative skills base, especially data analytics.
  • Thorough familiarity with financial markets, the World Bank’s financial position, and sustainable financing initiatives.
  • The capacity to conduct research, analyze data, and create working papers and reports as part of investor outreach.
  • Capacity to operate both independently and in teams while providing senior personnel with excellent professional support.

In this case, the chosen applicant will continue to hold the Regular or Open-Ended appointment that they already hold with the World Bank Group. The duration of the chosen candidate’s current Term appointment will be maintained if it ends later than the end date of this appointment and they are currently employed by the World Bank Group.
