The Bob and Diane Fund is looking for visual storytellers to submit pieces regarding dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

WHO OUGHT TO APPLY?


  • Only still photographers, please.
  • Participants in past awards are welcome to resubmit their request for 2023 (we encourage you to do so).

WHOM OR WHAT ARE WE SEEKING?


Finish, publish, and display. We are seeking for initiatives that require assistance to finish, publish, or exhibit. These can be personal accounts of loss as well as ones that emphasize the urgency of an unfolding medical emergency related to Alzheimer’s or dementia.

DID YOU GET THESE STORIES SOMEWHERE?

Anywhere. Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease affect 44 million individuals globally, while they are most prevalent in Western Europe and North America. Over 85-year-old Americans in the country have the disease in one-third of cases.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS?

  • The deadline for B&DF grant applications is September 1, 2023.
  • The deadline for B&DF grants is October 22, 2023.
  • National Caregivers Month in November 2023 will mark the announcement of the winning entry.

SUBMISSION OF FILE

Send a 250–500 word essay in English outlining the project, why you think it’s important, and how the award will help you finish it. In the file name, include your initials and the proposal (for example, GMM_Proposal).

  • Send 15–25 pictures (in color or black and white). Add a number to the end of each image and your initials to the file name (example: GMM_01, GMM_02).
  • Jpeg files with a caption for each image and 72 dpi, RGB, and 3000 pixels on the long side. Do not include the photographer’s name in the captions.
  • Send your CV and/or bio in English as a 2-page maximum PDF document. Include YOUR NAME, your email address, your location, and your phone number. With your initials and your bio at the end, give the PDF the name GMM_Bio.
  • Put your initials on a ZIP file that contains your essay, photographs, and bio and upload it to this Dropbox folder.
