The RevUp Women Initiative 2023 invites applications from women-owned businesses. The RevUp Women Initiative is a business development program for African women-owned startups. Its goal is to help these enterprises grow into successful, long-lasting businesses that will help the continent create jobs.

By offering access to capital, mentoring, and training in enterprise development, the project strives to promote gender equality and inclusive economic growth. The Visa Foundation is providing funding for this group. Women-owned enterprises are encouraged to submit applications for this cohort of the project by AfriLabs in a few specific African countries. 500 firms will participate in this cohort’s intensive training and mentorship sessions, and ten (10) will be chosen in each pilot location to receive program funding.

Eligibility

Africa-wide early-stage women-led firms are welcome. Before applying, these companies must fulfill the following requirements;

  • Be led by a woman and at least 51% owned by women.
  • Be situated in one of the following African cities:
  • Nigeria: Abuja and Lagos
  • South Africa: Cape Town and Johannesburg
  • Yaounde and Douala, Cameroon
  • Kenya: Kisumu and Nairobi
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo: Lubumbashi and Kinshasa
  • possess an already-available service or product; possess proof of sales of an already-available service or product;
  • possess a current business model;
  • incorporated and registered in the country of business;
  • be in operation for a minimum of six months;
  • be able to commit to an intensive 8-week hybrid training and mentoring program.
