The Southern Voice Young Think Tankers Pitching Contest 2023 is now accepting applications. In September 2023, Southern Voice will announce the opening of the call for applications for an exciting pitching competition for YTTs from the Global South in collaboration with On Think Tanks (OTT).

Fostering collaboration among young think tanks from the Global South is the main focus of this event. It aims to highlight practical suggestions for improving these kinds of relationships and give them a powerful networking platform to assure impact.
The Challenge
Imagine being chosen to serve as the newly founded UN Office for Youth’s presiding officer as well as the organization’s designated Youth Envoy. Your office is required under the General Assembly’s resolution A/RES/76/306 to support the meaningful, inclusive, and successful involvement of youth, youth-led organizations, and organizations with a focus on youth, in the activities of the UN. You are eager to hear from young people in the developing world. However, you learn from a recent study by Southern Voice that the fledgling think tanks from the Global South now have little opportunities for collaboration. You are motivated to consider ways to facilitate these partnerships among Southern Young Think Tankers (YTTs) by this. As a result, you will need to draft a proposal for the UN Secretary General.
Give us your original and workable solution to the current problems with young think tanker cooperation. Filling out this form will register your participation in the contest. Please keep in mind that your proposal should be no longer than 1200 words, be compelling, and be concise.
While creating your proposal, you can think about the following guiding questions:
How can the United Nations be transformed by the partnership of the YTTs of the Global South?
What has to be done to foster better communication between YTTs in the Global South?
In what ways might the UN Office for Youth assist these initiatives?
Benefits
At the Southern Voice conference in Kenya in November, the three winners will have the chance to present their concepts. Their travel will be covered by Southern Voice.
In order to advance the concepts proposed throughout the pitching competition, they will also be invited to join the steering group for expanding networking opportunities among young policy experts from the Global South.
Eligibility
The following requirements must be met by young think tankers:
35 years old maximum
affiliated with any such research organizations of a government or non-government character from the Global South, including think tanks, universities and other academic institutions, policy network organizations, and policy wings of governments and legislatures.
