April 30, 2023 deadline for applications | East Africa Jenga Haki Lab Program – HiiL Innovation Hub 2023
A program called Jenga Haki Lab challenges people to develop original ideas for leveraging technology to prevent or address specific justice issues. The solutions are based on an annual theme that shifts. will run three of these programs this year that are centered on crime and land-related issues in Uganda and Kenya.
This round of applications’ theme is:
How can you utilize technology in Uganda to stop or settle issues with land like fraud and disputes?
Are you an ambitious entrepreneur in Uganda seeking to develop a digital remedy that avoids or resolves issues with land justice?
Requirements
The program is appropriate for anyone who have creative ideas or answers to Uganda’s land justice issues, such as:
- conflicting land boundaries
- theft of land
- Land ownership, transfer, and title disputes
- Evictions from land
- conflicting land successions
- All applicants must be willing to join or form teams of three to five people because Jenga Haki is also designed to support teams.
- At the time of application, team members must be over 18 and Ugandan residents or citizens.
Benefits
The five-week Jenga Haki Lab program gives the following to the chosen teams:
- Find talented and like-minded businesspeople to collaborate with on a solution.
- training during the course of the two-day residential Jenga Haki Weekend. Training will be provided in either prototyping or human-centered design. Creating for user testing
- Both project management and leadership
- Presentation and Pitching
- The teams had two weeks of product development sprints to design, create, and test their prototype.
- Present your idea in front of a three-member jury at the Jenga Haki Festival for a chance to earn grant funding worth 1000 euros for the winner, 750 euros for the first place finisher, and 500 euros for the second place finisher.
