Submit an Application for the Liz Hughes Award for Her Farm Radio

This prize honors outstanding radio shows that cater to female listeners. Winning radio shows investigate and promote gender equality, for instance by sharing the thoughts and experiences of women, focusing on issues that are significant to women, or highlighting the contribution of men to gender equality. The application deadline is October 28, 2022.

This program’s station team, which includes the manager(s), producer(s), host(s), presenter(s), reporter(s), technician(s), and others, is recognized with the award.

Programs that succeed can cover any topic! So, the program does not have to solely emphasize gender equality. You might submit an application with a program focused on agriculture, health, or a combination of these. No of the subject, it’s crucial that your program supports women.

The winning broadcast team will be awarded a certificate and a $1,000 CAD prize in appreciation of their outstanding effort.

Eligibility

The Liz Hughes Award is open to all Farm Radio International broadcasting partners in sub-Saharan Africa! On behalf of their program team, broadcasters or station management must email ALL of the following documents to radio@farmradio.org  in order to apply:

The application form below, filled out with thorough responses.

a copy of your show’s recording. (If possible, send a 2022 episode.)

a complete transcription of the recorded episode in Swahili, Amharic, French, or Portuguese. The judges can evaluate the content and caliber of your work because of the transcription—a written account of your episode that includes every word said by the host(s) and each guest.

A runsheet or average program lineup in Word or PDF format.
