The International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO) Brain Ageing and Dementia in LMICs is now accepting applications. This institution’s mission is to teach young African researchers and trainees in the measurement of dementia and cognitive impairment in all settings.

The discussion of risk factors and the growing prevalence of vascular and neurodegenerative diseases, including HIV dementias, in the context of incidence and prevention in cross-cultural populations in Low and Middle Income Countries as compared to Europe, North America, and Japan will take place during this in-person meeting and training course. Similarly,the use of neuropsychometery instruments and measuring cognition in the elderly are of great importance.
IBRO details
Through training, education, research, outreach, and engagement initiatives as well as the publication of our two journals, Neuroscience and IBRO Neuroscience Reports, the IBRO is a global network of neuroscience societies that was founded in 1961.
The Governing Council of IBRO is made up of more than 90 international, regional, and national scientists who, along with the IBRO Executive Committee and five Regional Committees, address the needs and advance the work of individual scientists and research communities across the world. Additionally, IBRO collaborates with other research institutions that share its values in order to establish goals and fill in knowledge, funding, and resource gaps in the field of brain research.
Cost
The costs of lodging and low-cost transportation covered for some participants.
Eligibility
Open to African trainees and early-career researchers.
More so, should be focusing on dementia and brain aging.
Application
The deadline for applications is September 30, 2022. (5:00 p.m. CET). The program will take place at the University of Nairobi in Kenya from December 5–9, 2022.
