The deadline for the Annual World Press Photo Contest is January 11, 2022. This contest’s intention is to recognize plus celebrate the best photojournalism and documentary photography within the last year. Interested participants can enter their work free of charge to win €1,000 as regional winners and then a further €5,000 as global winners. This includes the chance to have their work showcased to the global audience and this comes with much more benefit. – The World Press Photo/Digital Storytelling Contest 2022 (€5,000 Cash Prize)
Requirements For This Contest
All professional photographers working in the field of photojournalism and/or documentary photography. When you win, your work will be;
- Included in the yearly travelling exhibition that is shown in over eighty (80) cities around the world
- Published on our website and other social media platforms that have over two million followers
- And lastly, it will be included in our yearbook
In addition to the above benefits, the applicants will also receive;
- €1,000 for every twenty-four (24) regional winner and a further €5,000 for the four (4) global winners
- An invitation to the winners’ event that will take place and get a physical award
For Regional Winners
Each regional winner will receive
- €1,000 in monetary prize
- An inclusion in the yearly World Press Photo year-long worldwide exhibition
- An inclusion in the yearly collectible yearbook that is available in many languages and a worldwide distribution of more than 30,000 copies
- A publication in our online collection and a personal profile on the World Press Photo’s website
- A promotion on the World Press Photo’s platforms
- An invitation to the winners’ event and receiving a physical award
For Global Winners
The four (4) global winners are selected by a panel of jury that is, the World Press Photo of the Year, the World Press Photo Story of the Year, the World Press Photo Long-Term Project Award and lastly the World Press Photo Open Format Award. It is from the regional winners that global winners are chosen in their respective categories. The global winners receive €5,000 monetary cash prize and a physical award in addition to their regional prizes

December 1, 2021, 12:00 (noon) CET: Entries open
December 11, 2022, 12:00 (noon) CET: Entries close
March 24, 2022: Regional winners’ announcement
April 7, 2022: Global winners’ announcement
April 16, 2022: Flagship world press photo exhibition 2022 in Amsterdam
