INNOVATION CHALLENGE!
CREATIVES! CULTURAL ARTISTS! ARTISANS!
Cultural and the innovative industries, that include crafts and arts, entertainment, advertising, architecture, design, books, software plus media are a crucial force in advancing human development. If well taken care of, the creative economy can activate continuos human development and socio-economic transformation and growth. The potential for the industry notwithstanding, it faces various challenges both at small and big level including financing.
UNDP seeks to support the creative sector through a special purpose vehicleor a devoted creatives arts facility that will offer a more structured approach to creatives, including incentive financing, promoting south to south collaboration and business or technical advisory services among others. The facility would support establishing planned and inclusive platforms for engagement structuring blended financing instruments, sharing best practices and experiences, skilling and human resource capacity development, building an enabling regulatory environment, and getting to grips with other challenges of creative economy.

CATEGORIES THAT WILL BE SUPPORTED UNDER ROUND ONE: 2021
The above list of categories is not complete. In fact because of the broadness of the creatives and cultural lndustry, we have provided for a Wild Card Category that includes other features of the creative industry like culture and natural heritage, Press and Books among others. This category therefore seeks to support any other creative ideas that do not fit into the six (6) categories listed above.
Successful individuals or groups will receive support of differing proportion and in some cases based on their particular needs. This support will include but not restricted to mentoring, incubation skills, acess to tools and equipment and financial support in form of grants between $3,000 and $5,000. Chosen projects will also get support with securing intellectual property.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE INNOVATION CHALLENGE! CREATIVE CALL
This open call goes to:
- Individual creatives of any age and gender, lawfully living and operating in Uganda. Women are advised to apply.
- Associations can also apply on behalf of confirmable targeted individual creatives who may be constrained to apply individually
