Deadline: December 20, 2022.

Deadline: December 20, 2022.

Apply now for the RISK Award 2023 jointly organized by the UNDRR and Munich Re Foundation.

“Climate resilience and early warning” is the 2023 topic. They are seeking projects that address one or more of the following important early warning system components:

  • Disaster risk knowledge
  • Preparedness and response capabilities
  • Warning dissemination and communication
  • Detection, monitoring, analysis and forecasting of the hazards and possible consequences

They hope to directly support the Sendai Framework with the RISK Award 2023. At the same time, they back the 2015 Paris Agreement by emphasizing climate dangers. All of their efforts are directed on achieving the SDGs and, as a result, the 2030 Sustainability Agenda.

Benefits
  • The RISK Award comes with a project finance grant of 100,000 euros.

Eligibility

  • The proposal must address the specific annual RISK Award topic
  • The project must be non-profit. Business development is not possible to be supported by the RISK Award.
  • The proposed project must include an implementation part (action), a proposal solely based on research is not sufficient.
  • The risks must be related to climate change and natural hazards.
  • Risks due to social turmoil, war, chemical disasters, and/or political crises are not in the scope of the RISK Award.
  • Ideas to involve the people at risk (people centred approaches). More so, appreciate proposals which combine bottom-up approaches with top-down frameworks (community-based approaches).
  • They encourage project teams which are engaged in multi-stakeholder partnerships (different sectors, different sizes, different organisational background, PPPs).
Time line
  • 28 October 2022: Announcement of the 2023 RISK Award topic
  • 28 October – 20 December 2022 (23:00 CET): Application phase
  • 01 April 2023: Individual notification of application status
  • May 2023: 2023 RISK Award ceremony.
