Applications for the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) Scholarship 2023 currently open.

With the intention of developing young scientists from all over the world, the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents (hence referred to as the ANSO Scholarship) every year, 200 Master’s students and 300 PhD students receive financial assistance through the ANSO Scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or CAS institutes located throughout China.

The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship, a subcategory of the ANSO Scholarship, will be formally introduced this year. In line with TWAS/priorities, UNESCO’s two target groups—the least developed nations (LDCs) and women—will receive special focus. TWAS/UNESCO will choose up to 40 PhD candidates from underdeveloped nations each year for this category.

The primary sponsor of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) Scholarship  is CAS, the important founding member of the organization. The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship recipients receive funding in part from TWAS and UNESCO, two of the organization’s founding members. Everyone who is interested in working with ANSO to develop a more varied scholarship program is encouraged to join.

Eligibility
  • Applicants should NOT hold Chinese citizenship.
  • Should be proficient in English or Chinese.
  • For Master’s program applicants: you should be born after 1st January 1993 (inclusive).
  • For PhD program applicants: you should be born after 1st January 1988 (inclusive).
  • Eligible applicants should meet the admission criteria for international students of USTC/UCAS.
  • Applicants should NOT take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.
