SADC Media Awards Competition 2027 for Journalists from Southern Africa (USD 14,000 in prizes)

Applications are actually open for the 2027 SADC Media Awards Competition. The Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is happy to announce the launch of the 2027 SADC Media Awards competitors in 4 classes, specifically Photo, Print, Television and Radio Journalism.

Established in 1996, the SADC Media Awards recognise excellent media work that contributes to disseminating data on SADC and selling better public understanding of the regional integration agenda. The Awards search to recognise journalists who display excellence, originality, accuracy, depth of analysis and impression in reporting on SADC and issues regarding regional cooperation and integration.

The Awards additional recognise the vital position of the media in informing residents about SADC programmes, insurance policies, initiatives and achievements, whereas offering a platform for journalists to convey regional points nearer to communities throughout the SADC area. Through high quality and impactful journalism, media practitioners contribute to strengthening communication, consciousness and visibility of SADC and selling better citizen engagement in the regional integration course of.

Prize

• The first prize winner in every of the 4 classes will obtain US$2,500, whereas the runner-up in every class will obtain US$1,000.
• The SADC Media Awards are open to journalists from all SADC Member States.
• The winners of the 2027 SADC Media Awards shall be introduced through the Opening Ceremony of the forty seventh SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held in the Republic of Zambia.

Requirements

Entries are invited from the next classes:
i) Print Journalism: comprising options/articles printed in newspapers,
newsletters, web sites, magazines.

• Print Journalism submissions ought to have a minimal of 100 (100 phrases and a most of 2000 (two thousand) phrases.
• ii) Radio Journalism: comprising broadcast materials.
• Radio Journalism broadcast materials ought to have a minimal length of 1 (one) minute and a most of 30 (thirty) minutes. All broadcast materials ought to be submitted on a CD or USB. The entries ought to be accompanied by digital transcript in phrase format for translation functions.
  iii)Television Journalism: comprising televised materials.
• Broadcast materials ought to have a minimal length of 1 (one) minute and a most of forty-five (45) minutes. All broadcast materials ought to be
  submitted on a CD or USB. The entries ought to be accompanied by digital transcript in phrase format for translation functions. iv) Photojournalism: comprising printed footage with a caption.
• Photographic entries ought to have one (1) photograph, or a pictorial unfold of no more than twenty (20) images printed in one problem/version. Each entry should be accompanied by an unique newspaper in which photograph (s) had been
  printed.
  f) All entries should be submitted to the National Adjudication Committee not later than February 28, 2027.
