WHO 2026 Global youth competition on influenza and COVID-19 prevention and control – Opportunities For Africans

Applications are actually open for the 2026 WHO Global youth competition on influenza and COVID-19 prevention and control. WHO invites college students and younger professionals to take part on this youth competition by creating transient movies that spotlight the significance of influenza and/or COVID-19 prevention and control. The movies are inspired to be progressive, tackle misinformation/myths, and encourage their group to guard themselves from seasonal influenza and COVID-19.

Competition theme: 

  • “How do you shield your circle from respiratory infections, like influenza and COVID-19?” 

Eligibility: 

  • Participants have to be college students or younger professionals between the ages of 18 and 35.

Competition Prompts: 

The submission should embrace a quick video that responds to a number of of the next prompts:   

  • Prompt 3: What myths about influenza and/or COVID-19 prevention and control are circulating in your group? How do you tackle them?   
  • Prompt 1: Who wants safety from seasonal influenza/COVID-19? How can weak teams defend themselves? Why is it necessary?  
  • Prompt 2: How do you reply to somebody who has doubts about influenza and/or COVID-19 prevention and control in your group?   

Winning movies: 

  • There can be one international successful video and as much as six movies highlighted as runners-up. 
  • The successful movies can be featured by WHO on the competition webpage. The scholar(s) who submitted the successful video will:
  • Be invited to current their video on a worldwide influenza/COVID-19 prevention and control-focused webinar in October 2026 and
  • Receive a certificates from WHO that includes their identify(s) and the video title

Participartion Requirements

  • Participants should tackle not less than one of many competition prompts of their video.
  • Students can work independently or in groups. 
  • Video can be a most of 90 seconds (1.5 minutes).
  • Students can submit as much as three movies. 
  • Submitted movies are inspired to be artistic.
