CGIAR Early Career Researchers Spring School 2026 (Fully-funded)

Applications are open for the CGIAR Early Career Researchers Spring School 2026. The University of Fort Hare and the CGIAR Climate Security crew are inviting early profession researchers primarily based in South Africa to a 3-day Spring School on local weather, peace and safety from 2 to 4 September 2026.

Across Southern Africa, local weather change is growing stress on livelihoods, assets and communities. These pressures can deepen social tensions, insecurity, battle and displacement. Yet researchers and practitioners engaged on these related challenges typically have restricted alternatives to construct the interdisciplinary expertise and regional networks the work calls for.

The Climate, Peace and Security Spring School is designed to assist handle that hole. The University of Fort Hare and the CGIAR Climate Security crew on the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT are organising the programme in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of the Free State. The Spring School will give early profession researchers interdisciplinary data, sensible expertise and regional connections to generate proof and inform local weather-resilient and peace-optimistic coverage and follow.

Costs

  • Travel, lodging and meals can be lined for each chosen participant.

Eligibility

  • Open to early profession researchers, together with Master’s and PhD college students, postdoctoral analysis fellows and younger professionals.
  • It welcomes candidates working in environmental science, peace and battle research, political science, migration, sociology, improvement research and associated fields.
  • Applicants should presently stay in South Africa. Women and candidates from underrepresented teams are strongly inspired to apply.
