Applications are actually open for the 2027 DSTI-CSIR Inter-programme Bursary Scheme. The Inter-Programme Bursary Scheme (IBS), funded by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) is meant to assist full time research at Honours, 4th 12 months Engineering/Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and PhD stage at any South African public college.
Eligibility:
Students who’re accepted or registered for full-time research at any South African public college, who intend to register or are registered for the next levels:

CSIR-DSTI IBS purposes are restricted to college students whose levels are aligned with the thematic analysis areas indicated under:
- Biocatalysis
- Biopharming
- Bioprocessing
- Health
- ICT
- Indigenous Knowledge Systems
- Microsystems expertise
- Mining
- Modelling and digital sciences
- Titanium (manufacturing components)
- Photonics
- Water Research
Benefits
- Honours/fourth 12 months engineering/Postgraduate Diploma: R160 000
- Masters: R170 000
- Doctorate: R180 000
- Students will obtain a further once-off laptop computer allowance of R10 000
