Applications are open for the Africa Investigative Journalism Lab 2026. Africa Uncensored, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Regional Media Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa, is happy to ask functions for a one-week Advanced Investigative Journalism Training to be held in Mombasa, Kenya from 4th to eighth November 2026.

This intensive residential coaching is designed to sharpen the investigative expertise of practising journalists throughout East Africa and past. Participants will work instantly with skilled investigative reporters, editors, and digital forensics specialists to develop and strengthen actual-world tales, whereas constructing expertise in knowledge journalism, supply safety, authorized frameworks, and digital verification.

Eligibility

This coaching is focused at:

• Mid-career and senior journalists with a minimal of three (3) years of energetic reporting expertise.

• Staff reporters, freelancers, editors, and multimedia journalists actively engaged in reporting, investigative journalism, or editorial management from print, broadcast, and digital media shops.
• Journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Somalia, and different African nations are inspired to apply.

Selection Criteria

Applicants shall be assessed on the next:

• Demonstrated expertise in journalism (portfolio of printed work required).
• Quality and feasibility of the proposed investigative story pitch.
• Clarity of motivation and dedication to accountability journalism.
• Geographic and gender variety shall be taken into consideration; ladies journalists are strongly inspired to apply.

• A present résumé or Curriculum Vitae (not exceeding 3 pages).
• A short investigative story pitch (300–500 phrases) outlining the story you want to develop through the coaching — embody the problem, the general public curiosity angle, and potential sources.
• Three (3) samples of your printed investigative or accountability journalism work (hyperlinks or PDFs).
• A letter of help out of your editor or media organisation (for employees journalists) or from a commissioning editor, media companion or skilled referee (for freelance journalists).
