Applications are actually open for the 2026/2027 Africa-Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP) Scholars Programme. The AEIP Scholars Programme is a collaborative analysis influence initiative that brings African and European students collectively to advance joint analysis and strengthen Africa-Europe cooperation. The programme helps peer studying, analysis and innovation, and science communication, whereas encouraging students to deal with shared international challenges by means of information change and sensible options. 

At the preliminary stage, ten students can be chosen and matched into 5 Africa-Europe scholar pairs. Each pair will collaborate on a joint analysis exercise and develop a collaborative analysis output. Following analysis, the highest three scholar pairs can be chosen as finalists and invited to current their work on the AEIP Stakeholders Event in June 2027. 

Programme goal

  • The programme goals to foster collaborative analysis and innovation between African and European students by aligning educational work with the AU-EU Innovation Agenda, notably the Capacities for Science motion, and by strengthening intercontinental partnerships by means of solution-driven analysis.

Benefits

  • The prime three scholar pairs can be chosen primarily based on analysis scores.
  • Winning groups can be recognised for presenting impactful and scalable options and can be sponsored to showcase their collaborative outputs on the closing AEIP Stakeholder Meeting in Europe, June 2027. 
  • The prime three scholar pairs can be invited to current their work on the Africa-Europe Innovation Dialogues 2027 in Europe, with sponsorship to showcase their collaborative outputs.

Eligibility Requirements

The programme is open to students who meet the next eligibility standards:

  • Aged between 25 and 35.
  • Based in Africa or Europe.
  • Enrolled in PhDs, Post-Docs, or additional research on the time of application.
  • Have ongoing or accomplished analysis initiatives, theses or dissertations aligned with the AU-EU Innovation Agenda Capacities for Science motion.

How it Works

  • A complete of 10 students can be shortlisted from Africa and Europe.
  • They can be paired on a 1:1 Africa-Europe foundation in accordance with shared or complementary analysis themes. Each pair will collaborate to develop a solution-based study addressing challenges related to each Africa and Europe. 
  • Each scholar pair will design a sensible, solution-oriented innovation derived from their analysis. Proposed options can be reviewed by a panel of consultants and offered by means of a pitching course of.
