9th Next Generation Investigative Journalism Fellowship 2026 (Stipend out there)

Applications are open for the 9th Next Generation Investigative Journalism Fellowship 2026. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), is inviting functions from younger journalism graduates, early profession journalists and different younger professionals with a ardour for journalism in Ghana to take part within the 9th version of the Next Generation Investigative Journalism (NGIJ) Fellowship. The fellowship is targeted on accountability journalism and anti-corruption reporting.

It kinds part of actions being applied by the MFWA underneath the challenge titled, “Countering corruption through accountability journalism and improved freedom of expression environment in Ghana”. The challenge falls underneath the Participation, Accountability, Integrity for a Resilient Democracy (PAIReD) programme, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-financed by the EU and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and applied by GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance.

Overall, the challenge seeks to strengthen the capability of the media, particularly investigative journalists, to provide investigative reviews corruption – associated points and promote accountability that addresses socio-financial disparities. The challenge additional seeks to advertise an improved surroundings for press freedom and freedom of expression in Ghana.

The three-month, totally funded residential program will equip 10 chosen journalists/younger professionals with palms-on coaching in investigative journalism, use of the Right to Information Law, Data Journalism, Fact Checking and different related subjects.

Eligibility

  • Open to journalism graduates, early-profession journalists and younger professionals with a ardour for journalism.
  • Applicants should decide to full participation within the residential program (from September to November 2026).
  • Females and journalists outdoors the Greater Accra Region are inspired to apply.
